Privacy & positioning

No sign-up. No sign-in. Just the page.

There is nothing between you and the first sentence. Quorly opens as an editor: no account, no email, no “continue with”, no verification step. The draft starts saving in this browser as you type.

What “no account” actually covers

All of it, except one thing:

  • Writing. Open the editor and type. There is no trial, no credit card, no activation.
  • Saving. The open document and the library are stored in the browser. Nothing is tied to a name.
  • Exporting. Markdown, PDF, plain text, a .quorly package, or the clipboard for Substack, Ghost and Medium.
  • The desktop app. Windows, macOS and Linux builds install and run without signing in.
  • Buying Pro. This is the exception. A subscription needs an account to own it, so checkout uses a Google account and Dodo handles billing. Nothing about your drafts is involved.

Where your writing goes instead

The open document is kept in localStorage; the library and its images are kept in IndexedDB, both in this browser profile. That is why there is no login: there is nothing on our side to log in to.

It also means the local copy is the only copy until you make another one. Export a .quorly file for a backup that keeps the images, use Local Sync to write one file per document into a folder you choose, or turn on Pro Cloud Sync to keep a copy in your own Google Drive. The privacy page written for writers goes through the storage model in detail.

If you do want an account later

Pro is optional and nothing migrates by itself. If you subscribe, your drafts stay exactly where they are — the account is for billing and for the sync token, not for custody of your documents.

Best for

Somebody who needs to write a paragraph right now, on a borrowed laptop, without creating a profile that follows them around. Somebody on a locked-down work machine where signing up is blocked. Somebody who already has too many accounts and does not want another one for typing.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does Quorly work without an email address?

Yes. Writing, saving, exporting and the desktop app need no email and no account. An email or Google account is only needed to buy Quorly Pro, because a subscription has to be tied to something you can cancel later.

Where is my draft saved if there is no account?

In this browser: the open document in localStorage, the library and images in IndexedDB. It is tied to the browser profile, not to an identity.

Can I use Quorly on another device?

Yes, but nothing moves by itself. Export a .quorly file and import it, sync a folder with Local Sync, or use Pro Cloud Sync to your own Google Drive.

What happens on a new browser or a cleared profile?

Nothing syncs unless you set up sync. A new browser starts empty, and clearing site data deletes the local library. Export before you clear anything you want to keep.
